Mobile health clinics bringing screenings, immunizations, and treatment for chronic conditions to rural and underserved communities in Haiti.
Clean Water & Sanitation
Rainwater harvesting systems, low-cost water filters, and sanitation education to reduce waterborne disease and ensure safe drinking water.
Agricultural Sustainability
Training on organic farming, crop rotation, and soil health — plus access to seeds, tools, and market cooperatives.
Vocational Training & Skills
Skills training centers teaching carpentry, masonry, sewing, and electrical work — with business management education and apprenticeships.
Youth Empowerment & Mentorship
Connecting young Haitians with professionals and leaders who guide them in education and career development.
Microfinance & Economic Empowerment
Small, low-interest microloans for entrepreneurs launching or expanding businesses — paired with financial literacy training.
Environmental Conservation
Reforestation and tree-planting to combat deforestation, restore soil, and prevent erosion — with community waste management initiatives.
Technology & Digital Literacy
Computer and digital skills training to empower communities to access online education, job opportunities, and essential services.
Why This Program Exists
Haiti's challenges are deep-rooted and interconnected — poverty, deforestation, food insecurity, disease, and limited economic opportunity have compounded for generations. No single intervention is enough. Real change requires a coalition approach: different organizations, churches, schools, and businesses working together toward the same goal.
CANA — Christian Alliance for a New Ayiti — is AHVED's faith-based development coalition. It unites Christian organizations in the diaspora and in Haiti around a shared mission: sustainable, community-owned development that builds Haiti's capacity from the inside out.
CANA is structured around three implementation phases: Phase 1 (Months 1-3) — Partnership formation and administrative setup. Phase 2 (Months 4-12) — Pilot projects and expansion. Phase 3 (Months 13-24) — Sustainability and capacity building.
What We Provide
Mobile health clinics staffed by local healthcare professionals. General health screenings and immunizations. Rainwater collection and storage systems. Distribution of low-cost water filters. Sustainable farming workshops on organic practices, crop rotation, and soil health. Distribution of seeds, tools, and fertilizer through local suppliers. School-community gardens supporting school feeding programs.
Skills training centers for carpentry, masonry, sewing, and electrical work. Business management and financial literacy training. Apprenticeships with local businesses. Microloans for small and growing businesses. Mentorship matching with professionals and community leaders. Youth leadership development workshops.
Community tree-planting and reforestation programs. Digital literacy programs for adults and youth. Access to computers for online education and employment. Tech donation drives for laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
Who Is Eligible
CANA partners with Christian schools, churches, and businesses in Haiti and in the diaspora. Individuals in Haiti seeking healthcare, agricultural support, vocational training, or microloans through CANA partner organizations. Communities wanting to participate in neighborhood improvement, reforestation, or youth programs.
