On July 19, 2024, Ahved hosted a highly successful Back-to-School event in Fort Myers, bringing together the community for a day filled with support, services, and fun. With a total of 362 participants, including 162 families, the event was a shining example of what community spirit can achieve.
Supporting Our Students
One of the event's highlights was the distribution of backpacks and school supplies, ensuring that every student was prepared to start the new school year on the right foot. A
total of 200 students benefited from this generous initiative:
139 Toddlers/Kids
33 Teen Boys
28 Teen Girls
These essential supplies will undoubtedly help these students as they embark on another academic year, providing them with the tools they need to succeed.
Serving the Community
The event also saw a significant turnout of adults, with 88 adults attending with their children and 77 attending without children. In addition to supporting their kids, many adults took advantage of the free services offered at the event:
Eye Screening by Sante Plus Medical Center: 35 adults received vital eye health checks, helping to ensure that their vision is clear for the year ahead.
Health Screenings & Physicals: 60 students took advantage of this service, ensuring they are in good health as they return to school.
A Day of Giving
The event wasn't just about school supplies and health services. The food giveaway, a key part of the event, saw 243 participants receiving much-needed assistance, helping to alleviate some of the financial burdens that many families face during this time of year.
Immigration Services
Understanding the diverse needs of the Fort Myers community, the event also offered immigration services to those in need. Many people were assisted, ensuring they have the support and guidance necessary to navigate their immigration processes.
